System integration

Integrated fire and security systems

Fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV and access control working as one. Separate systems each do their own job. Integrated, one event triggers the right response from all of them. We design and install the links between them, on new sites and on systems already in place.

Fire alarmTells the doors to release and the cameras where to look
Intruder alarmFlags the zone so the right camera footage is marked
One event,
every system responds
CCTVRecords and bookmarks what happened at the moment of the alarm
Access controlLocks down or releases doors depending on the event

In practice

What integration actually does

When this happensThe systems respond
Fire alarm activatesAccess controlled doors on escape routes release. Cameras covering the zone are bookmarked. The ARC receives a fire signal.
Intruder alarm triggers at nightThe camera on that zone records at full quality and sends a clip, so the alarm can be checked before anyone drives out.
Last person sets the alarmAccess control locks the building and stops fobs working until it is unset.
A fob is used out of hoursThe door camera captures who it was and the event is logged against the fob.

How we approach it

Start with what is there

Most integration jobs start with systems already on the wall. We work out what each can send and receive, then link what is worth linking, and only replace equipment when it cannot do the job.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Do the systems have to be the same make to work together?
Not always. Many panels, recorders and access controllers can be linked through relays, inputs and outputs, or software. Some combinations integrate more deeply than others, and we will tell you at survey what is possible with what you already have.
Can you integrate systems that are already installed?
Usually. We survey what is there, check what each system can send and receive, and propose the links that are worth making. It is often cheaper than replacing everything.
Is it worth it for a small building?
The simplest integration, releasing access controlled doors when the fire alarm sounds, matters in any building with locked escape routes. Beyond that it depends on the site. We will not sell you links you do not need.
